FIVE ACTIONS TO TAKE TODAY
Resist 24/7!
Talk to your friends, relatives, neighbors, and acquaintances. Make sure they know the truth about what’s happening and understand what’s at stake. Urge them to get engaged. Create your own action network.
Stand up in community. Show up at rallies and protests. Join IndivisibleGA10 and other groups advocating for change, and read their messages to find out about upcoming actions.
Contact your elected officials, even if you don’t think they will care—it does matter. Use your voice as a voter and a constituent. Find your elected officials here.
Boycott corporations that support the regime. Support local businesses and corporations that are fighting fascism. [Some examples: Bad— Amazon, Home Depot, Target, Waze, Tesla, Starbucks. Good— Costco, Aldi, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Patagonia.]
Be an active citizen. Attend local meetings, volunteer for local committees, check your voter registration, cast a vote in all elections, and make sure your friends vote, too. More information.
This is a moment important enough that our grandchildren and even great-grandchildren might ask: “What did you know? What did you do?” Think hard about what you want your answer to be. Think hard about what you can do that will stand the test of time — whether it be peacefully protesting (including peaceful civil disobedience), volunteering for a political campaign, providing meals and clothing for immigrant families, or anything else that protects the vulnerable and defends human dignity.
One of the worst answers, however, would be to look a curious grandchild in the face, and say, “Well, I posted a lot on social media.”
